Today the emergency services is no longer a hobby it is serious business and requirements set by the state have made it a true profession (paid or volunteer). It’s also time for communities to financially support their services 100% no more chicken dinners or bingos. How can you ask a person to volunteer 100+ hours getting the basic training, then ask them to fund raise. It’s also time for the individual services to have their organization run by the community. In no way do I think this is the end of the volunteer service, it’s the next progression.👨‍🚒

PS when was the last time the cops had spaghetti dinner to buy bullets or the road crew have bingo to buy a new snow plow.

Every company who had operated with a hand full of volunteers within the last decade had to at least thought about having shortages in volunteer manpower.
